Geeks around the world, rejoice. While being labelled as one in the past was social suicide, it is now widely accepted and - dare we even say it - sexy. With the recent influx of geek chic on our television screens, it would seem that geek is now the new cool.
More than just ‘computer programmers’, geeks are now appreciated for their passion and expertise in their field. But don’t just take it from us- here are 7 of TV's hottest geek guys. Take a leaf from their book as they heat up the screens, geek style.
Will Schuester (Glee)

Commonly known as Wil or Mr Schue, he is the teacher who rescued the William McKinley High School Glee Club from shutting down. Compassionate and a little naïve, Will tries to see the good in all people and tries to do his best in all that he does; however, he is also revealed to be compulsively driven in his endeavours. With an adorably sweet disposition coupled with intense passion for the club he believes in, Will suffers no lack of female attention. The amazing voice is just an added bonus.
Charlie Eppes (Numb3rs)

Dr. Charles Edward Eppes is a young professor of applied mathematics, a world-class mathematician, and a behind-the-scenes sidekick to his FBI brother Don. At age 3, Charlie could multiply 4 digit numbers mentally and graduated from Princeton University at the age of 16. While Charlie has all the makings of a classical geek, he also uses his mathematical prowess to solve crime- as a cryptanalyst at the National Security Agency. Unmistakable with his shock of curly brown hair, Charlie endears himself to us with his unassuming attitude, even after repeatedly saving the day. We are also impressed by how he has managed to pull off the impossible- show us that math can be sexy.
Chuck Bartowski (Chuck)

Another classical geek, Chuck is a computer expert with a genius-level intellect stuck in a dead-end job. On his birthday in 2007, Chuck opens an email containing the last remaining copy of the greatest spy secrets of the CIA, causing him to subliminally download its contents into his brain. Thrust clueless into the violent field of espionage, Chuck takes it all in his stride with a good-natured bumbliness that we adore. Coupled with a gun-toting CIA agent girlfriend, this is one hot duo you won’t want to miss.
Sam Winchester (Supernatural)

Serious, silent, brooding. These are the words that best describe Sam throughout the dark series Supernatural. Haunted by the death of his mother and fiancé, Sam gives up his dream of a ‘normal’ life, giving up on law school to hunt demons with his brother Dean. While he may not seem conventionally geeky, Sam does have extensive knowledge of the occult and how to defeat them, not to mention commitment to his cause- saving the word from apocalypse. Nothing gets us hot under the collar like a hero shrouded in mystery.
Dr. Gregory House (House)

A medical genius, House works as the Chief of Diagnostic Medicine specializing in infectious diseases and nephrology. Despite his blatant disregard for his patients’ feelings, we cannot help but be riveted by his genius and unorthodox ways. Arrogant and narcissistic, House is the antithesis of what one expects of doctors; however, there is a strange charm in his biting wit. House fascinates and thrills us with his unpredictability, making him one of the hottest TV doctors out there.
Ted Mosby (How I Met Your Mother)

The quintessential nerdy ‘good guy’, Ted is a hopeless romantic in search of his soulmate with the help of his friends. He is an architectural professor and is revealed to have a number of geeky characteristics such as habitually correcting others and confessing to liking his teachers. Ted often ignores others’ advice when it comes to his often over-the-top grand schemes at snagging a girl; however, we cannot fault him for trying. Ted is perpetually optimistic despite numerous setbacks in his quest for love.
What we like: His sunny disposition and never-say-die attitude, coupled with his penchant for engaging in occasionally peculiar behavior in order to establish a connection with his students. With his crazy antics, Ted proves that the adage Good Guys finish Last does not stand.
Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory)

Eccentric, antisocial and wildly popular, Sheldon Cooper needs no introduction. Sheldon is the embodiment of the original geek: socially inept, with intellectual pursuits for his own sake with little care for society. Yet, we find his style refreshing, not to mention hilarious. Sheldon verbalizes that which is on everyone’s minds and suffers no repercussions of his blatant disregard for the rules of society. Despite his idiosyncrasies, Sheldon continues to endear and fascinate with a mix of brilliance and childlike qualities, making him the current hot geek of the moment on television.
